TDK Technologies' Experts Available to Comment on the Failure of www.healthcare.gov
ST. LOUIS (January 13, 2014) - On Friday, January 10, 2014, the Obama administration announced that it is dropping CGI Federal as the lead contractor for the troubled HealthCare.gov website. CGI Federal has been linked to many of the problems surrounding the October 1, 2013 launch of the federal health care exchange, which President Obama has called "screwed up."
TDK Technologies, a St. Louis based technology company, has experts available to comment on the failure of the launch of the Affordable Care Act website, www.HealthCare.gov, and related website issues.
The HealthCare.gov website, where individuals can sign up for the new health insurance exchanges, has been in the headlines recently because of its technical failings.
The launch of HealthCare.gov — the federal health insurance exchange website mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — went live October 1, 2013. Many problems plagued the site. Congress held hearings to troubleshoot the situation and to suggest plans of remedial action. On December 2, 2013, the site was re-launched. The jury is still out as to the revamp. Some say the re-launch was a success; others say it is too early to tell.
The site’s initial inability to process complex individual applications, as evidenced by the software crashes that rendered HealthCare.gov inaccessible to many users, is at the core of the issue. In addition, enrollment numbers recently released fell short of expectations.
There are many issues that go deeper than the crashes and inaccessibility. Many could have been prevented through some basic IT project management processes and procedures. TDK Technologies offers project management services expertise to help clients define and successfully complete projects of this nature.
TDK Technologies, a St. Louis based information technology firm, is making their experts available to comment on the failure of www.HealthCare.gov related issues and processes and procedures designed to prevent such catastrophes.
“Many of the experts say the site’s problems are the result of improper attention to and management of its many working parts. There are also testing strategies that always should be done on elaborate sites and systems like this,” stated Kristin Tucker, Principal of TDK Technologies.
She went on to say that fundamental project management, with a plan and a proven process, prevents many of these problems with projects of this nature.
TDK Technologies, as part of its services, is quite involved in the planning and processes of major website projects related to business objectives. TDK Technologies understands website development and implementation and can speak to preventing problems like these for any organization.
