The Problem

A global financial services provider needed to modernize a legacy Switch Configuration Management (SCM) system for transaction flows, which directly impacts fraud prevention, compliance, and overall transaction success rates.

The existing system was inefficient, difficult to use, and lacked the functionality required to support modern business processes. The challenge was compounded by business requirements that changed frequently, requiring flexibility to keep the project aligned with evolving needs.

The Solution

To address challenges in the SCM system, the client embarked on a significant platform rewrite, adopting an Agile methodology to develop a new microservice-based system with a modern, single-page user interface. TDK Technologies was engaged to develop an intuitive, order-style interface that would support end-to-end account range management, including adding, updating, merging, and splitting account ranges.

The project team prioritized user experience (UX) and code design, migrating features from the old system to the new application in a phased approach. A key part of the process involved taking frequently evolving requirements and breaking them down into smaller, manageable user stories, which were then developed within the Agile framework. This iterative approach allowed the team to build and test each workflow, ensuring it met business needs before proceeding.

One of the key innovations introduced during this project was the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a development tool. Recognizing the fast-paced and continuously evolving nature of the requirements, the team began using AI to generate basic code templates from wireframes. By leveraging this technology as an assistant rather than a replacement, the team enhanced productivity and maintained the project's forward momentum.

The Results

The new SCM platform rolled out in phases, with initial live workflows for internal users. The client is satisfied with the new system's user-friendly interface and its ability to significantly reduce manual data entry. By partnering with TDK, the client gained an expert resource that could maintain momentum and deliver quality results in a complex, high-pressure environment.
